Re-creating the infantry unit commanded by Captain Edward Worthington during the American Revolution

When revolutionary war re-enacting was gaining momentum in the early 1970's prior to the bicentennial, The NWTA was founded and several units came to fruition, including George Rogers Clark's Illinois County Militia.  This unit never actually existed under that name, but was based on the Illinois Regiment, or Battalion, of Virginia.  As research and authenticity standards progressed, the misnamed militia unit took on the name Bowman's Company, during the formation of the Illinois Battalion.  Other individual companies of Clark's Illinois Battalion were created over the years, including McCarty's, Kellar's, and Edward Worthington's Coy.

We portray the Summer and Fall of 1780, when the unit was garrisoned at fort Jefferson at the falls of the Ohio River.  During this time period, the fort was resupplied with uniforms and munitions from the French and Spanish allies along the Mississippi river in Louisiana and a part of Canada which is now known as Missouri and Illinois.
