Events

Our Parent organizations NWTA and BAR host several events every year which we take part in.  Here are some helpful links to find us and come see us in action

2019 Events

Spring Grove, April  27-28, 2019

Nestled in the suburbs of Louisville KY is the final home of George Rogers Clark.  Locust Grove was owned by Clark's brother-in-law major William Croghan, and today hosts a number of historic events open to the public.  At "Spring Grove," units comprising and who worked alongside the Illinois Regiments dust off their muskets and haversacks for two days of drill training and crowd engagement.

Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous, May 25-26, 2019

Another site near and dear to us is George Rogers Clark National Park in Vincennes Indiana.  The massive monument built here is believed to be on the exact site of Fort Sackville, where Clark, Worthington, and nearly 175 others heroically captured the British war criminal Henry "The Hair Buyer" Hamilton.  The Vincennes Rendezvous is one of our largest events, always set appropriately on Memorial Day weekend.

Revolution on the Ohio Frontier, August 24-24, 2019

Fort Meigs was built during the war of 1812, along the Maumee river, just a few miles south-west of modern day Toledo Ohio.  While there was no battle there during the American Revolution, it was unsuccessfully sieged twice by the British between April and July of 1813.  The American Revolution event is a joint event between the NWTA and BAR.  Learn more at the Fort Meigs Website.

Grand  Encampment at Cantigny, September 7-8, 2019

Our Friends from Capt. Alexander Hamilton's Artillery host this event every year at Cantigny Park in Wheaton Illinois, a few miles west of Chicago.  Cantigny Park houses multiple museums, including The McCormick house and The First Division Museum. It was named after a small village in France, where Colonel McCormick commanded an artillery battalion in 1918 as a member of the U.S. Army’s First Division. The Battle of Cantigny was America’s first victory in World War I. https://cantigny.org/

Vermillion Valley Encampment, September 28-29, 2019

Secluded deep within the Forest Glen Nature Preserve is one of our most cherished events.  Worthington's company hosts this family-oriented event complete with historically modeled buildings and an activity filled schedule that everyone can enjoy.  We have tomahawk, bayonette, and skillet tossing competitions, as well as candle making and games for the kids.  And of course, no event is complete without battle demonstrations.  Information on the park can be found at: http://www.vccd.org/index.htm

Battle of Dollinger Farm, October 19-20, 2019

Our friends in the First Continental Dragoons host this family friendly event in Channahon Illinois, at Dollinger Family Farm.  This site is fun for the whole family no matter what time of year, but this weekend we gather our forces and put on a show for visitors.  More information can be found at Dollinger Family Farm's website, or at 1st Dragoons website.

18th Century Market Fair at Locust Grove,
October, 2019 (Date TBD)

At Market Fair, the Illinois Regiment teams up with Locust Grove, and many other congressional and crowned units, as well as artisans and sutlers of all kinds.  This event provides more than just a tactical demonstration, and historical shopping.  It is an immersive experience in the life of a soldier or civilian during the Revolution. Also, being the final resting Place of George Rogers Clark, Locust Grove is rich with history and is cherished by our members. Locust Grove Website
